During his presidency Prof. Kahrilas opened up ISDE's membership for all healthcare providers focused on esophageal diseases, and one of his primary goals during his presidency was to improve the diversity of the membership; Prof. Kahrilas was able to help smooth this transition because of the tremendous respect he had for the history of the organization.
