2026 DOTE Journal Award winners announced

The International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE) is pleased to recognize the recipients of the 2026 Diseases of the Esophagus (DOTE) Journal Awards.

Established in 2018, the DOTE Journal Awards recognize contributions to the journal and support professional and educational interest in the esophagus and related diseases. Over the years, the awards have highlighted excellence in both published research and peer review within the DOTE community.

2026 Paper of the Year

Congratulations to Dr. Michelle Hayes, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, recipient of the 2026 Paper of the Year Award for her paper:

The prevalence, nature and severity of oropharyngeal dysphagia in the acute post-operative phase following curative resection for esophageal cancer

The paper was published in Diseases of the Esophagus Journal.

The Paper of the Year Award, formerly known as the Best Junior Faculty/Trainee Manuscript Award, celebrates outstanding first-author contributions to scientific research. The award recognizes excellence in methodology, clinical impact and engagement.

2026 Reviewer of the Year

Congratulations to Dr. Xiaozheng (Keith) Kang, National Cancer Center, China, who has been named the 2026 Reviewer of the Year.

Peer reviewers play an important role in supporting the quality of research published in scientific journals. The Reviewer of the Year Award, formerly known as the Outstanding Junior Faculty Peer Reviewer Award, recognizes exceptional dedication to peer review, with contributions considered across the quality, timeliness and volume of reviews undertaken.
