The French Association of Esophageal Atresia is welcoming research project proposals aimed at improving the management of esophageal pathologies. Through this award the society wishes to draw the attention of researchers in pathology and raise awareness of the difficulties encountered by physicians who manage esophageal atresia and encourage new avenues of study. Since its creation, the AFAO has awarded 19 research prizes totaling €200,000.
Due to the rare nature of esophageal pathologies, research projects that aim to improve awareness and the treatment of these pathologies are few and far between. Since 2007, the French Association for esophageal atresia (AFAO – Association Francaise de l'Atresie de L'Esophage) has regularly asked for applications for the Prix Fanny-Selena (prior to 2017, the Prix Fanny) in memory of two girls who passed away because of their disease.
The prize has enabled research to be initiated with a clear focus on the esophagus - an essential, functional but under-researched organ.
Deadline for applications is May 15, 2022.
