Dr. Ferguson is a Professor in the Department of Surgery and the Comprehensive Cancer Center at The University of Chicago. He heads the Thoracic Surgery Service and is the Program Director for the Cardiothoracic Residency. His clinical interests include benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus and lung cancer. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery including robotic surgery. His research interests include risk assessment, risk mitigation, frailty, simulation, and surgical education. He is a Deputy Editor of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery and Esophagus. He is Co-Editor of CTSNet. He is the author of more than 300 articles or chapters and has authored or edited more than 15 books.
